There's a whole new mode that features some extremely clever puzzle design and almost feels like a whole game on its own, along with other more expected post game stuff like arenas. There's also a hefty amount of post game content, some it far more challenging than the main game, if that's your thing. But the characters are neat and made me want to go play the other games too, to get to know them better. Before playing this one, I'd only played a handful of other Kirby games and only had experience with a similarly small amount of Dream Friends. If you've only played Robobot, you may not recognize most of them, but imo that's ok.

There are two modes where, as solo play, you can freely be the helpers. Kirby Star Allies takes the idea of playing Friends/Helpers to a new level. I purchased KSU years ago just to play Helper to Hero as Knuckle Joe. My favorite Kirby character is Knuckle Joe. It expands further on an idea that was presented in Kirby Superstar Ultra. This game expands on that a lot by allowing you to dynamically experience the four-person play even in single player with the friend system.
In that game, it was AMAZING for cooperative play because DDD, WADDLE D, AND META K were so neatly designed and complemented Kirby perfectly in RTD. This becomes amazing because a turning point in Kirby gaming was when Return to Dreamland was released. However, the gimmick of Star Allies is that you can throw a heart at enemies that yield powers and they will become friendly and will aid you. During story mode you will play as Kirby primarily and will obtain powers through eating enemies, par for the course. What makes Star Allies good is a mechanic involving your characters. The villains wanna do a bad and Kirby is a hero. That being said, the story here is simple and easy to understand. The plotline of most good Kirby games fly over your head because you just wanna eat stuff as Kirby. The story of Star Allies feels as at home as any good Kirby game. Hey there!
